What is a Doula and How Can We Help?
A doula is a devoted companion on your journey into parenthood. We offer steady, loving support every step of the way. We provide emotional care, physical comfort, and evidence-based information before, during, and after birth. Studies have shown that continuous support from a doula can reduce the risk of cesarean birth by up to 39%, shorten labor, and increase overall satisfaction with the birth experience.
Doulas are also associated with a greater chance of having a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and those who labor with doula support often report a decreased need for pain medication and a greater sense of control. My role is not to replace your medical team, but to walk beside you; holding space, offering comfort measures, and helping you feel seen, heard, and deeply supported as you bring new life into the world.
Prenatal Support
Each prenatal session is thoughtfully designed around your unique needs, preferences, and goals for birth. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor our time together to support you and your partner where you are — emotionally, physically, and mentally.
During these visits, we’ll discuss your hopes for birth and co-create a personalized plan that reflects your values, comfort, and boundaries. I’ll guide you through how I will support you during labor and delivery, introduce comfort and pain management techniques, and offer tools to help you feel grounded and confident as your due date approaches.
While I strongly encourage parents to take a comprehensive childbirth education class or explore recommended readings, my role is to complement that knowledge with individualized care, ensuring that you feel seen, supported, and prepared every step of the way.
Labor & Delivery Support
From 37 weeks until birth, I offer 24/7 on-call availability, meaning I’m just a call or text away whenever you need reassurance, guidance, or a calming presence.
Once active labor begins, I join you in person to provide steady emotional support and hands-on comfort measures such as touch, breathwork, movement, and positioning. I’ll help you create a peaceful birth environment and support open communication with your medical team so your wishes are honored.
My care also extends to your partner, helping them feel confident and involved throughout labor. Together, we’ll find meaningful ways for them to assist, whether through physical comfort techniques, emotional encouragement, or simply being a grounding presence by your side.
If you wish, I can also document your birth through photography or video and share updates with loved ones, allowing you both to stay fully present in the moment.
Postpartum Support
Postpartum care is a sacred continuation of your birth journey — a time to be cared for, held, and deeply supported. Each visit is thoughtfully tailored to your unique needs at that moment, meeting you exactly where you are in your healing and adjustment to new motherhood.
I provide a safe, nurturing space to process your birth experience, along with lactation and feeding guidance, and resources to support your newborn’s early development. You’ll receive natural herbal remedy recipes to encourage physical healing, and, if desired, a soothing postpartum herb bath to restore balance and calm.
I also offer movement and recovery support designed around your body’s healing process, helping you gently reconnect with yourself in a grounded, empowering way.
For those who wish to honor the placenta, I offer Sacred Imprinting — a ceremonial watercolor art piece created using your baby’s placenta, capturing the beauty of the life-giving bond between you.
